It gives you a structured overview of trends and potential areas of action that may influence your work, and it helps you identify relevant connections — as well as contradictions. By working through all five categories, you gain a wide‑angle view of your landscape and reduce the risk of overlooking important factors.

You can download our STEEP template — refined, adapted, and optimized over many years of workshop experience — for free on our Design Thinking platform www.design-thinkit.de. Print it out and fill it in, use it as a template for your own grid on a whiteboard or flipchart, or let it inspire you to create a completely customized version.
