OVERVIEW
In collaboration with PxP Embassy e.V. and Volkswagen We, we asked children and young people how they imagine the street of the future. Their ideas and prototypes are not only full of creativity — they also offer fascinating insights into a generation eager to actively tackle the challenges of our time.

How children imagine the streets of the future
With our Kids Kreate The Future program, we not only gave participating students an empowering, hands‑on experience and equipped them with tools for creative teamwork — we also created a valuable learning moment for Volkswagen employees. Acting as team coaches, they were able to put their facilitation skills into practice while gaining fresh inspiration from working with some of the most demanding users of the future.

Project overview
During their autumn break, 35 students from the Paul-Löbe-Schule and the ReDI School Berlin stepped into the role of future researchers under the slogan 'Kids Create the Future'. Guided by Volkswagen We and PxP Embassy staff, who had undergone training as part of the A.C.E.3 education programme (Empowering All Children Through Empathy and Education), the 10- to 16-year-olds spent a week developing their own visions for the street of the future. After all, who better to shape their future — and ours — than them?
The young participants had the chance to learn new skills and methods in an inspiring environment. The focus was primarily on building and strengthening creative confidence, as well as experiencing the joy of collaborative work. In addition to designing the overall format, we supported the young researchers as facilitators and coaches, using co-creative methods from Futures Thinking and Design Thinking that they can apply in their school lives and beyond. We also helped them to visualise their ideas using techniques such as graphic recording and prototyping.

Results and Reflections
Together, we developed exciting scenarios for the street of the future and ideas for a better world. In exactly ten years, we’ll revisit them with everyone who took part in the project. Until then, the « Promises to the Future » remain sealed inside a time capsule. It’s a project with inspiring partners that moved and energized our entire Berliner Ideenlabor team.
